On a rainy day or late into the evening, whether you're out at the beach or in the heart of downtown, In the Light is an uplifing album that will elevate your spirit and keep you smiling all summer long. For fans who have dreamed and prayed of a new Soulstice album since Illusion was released, In the Light answers our hope with an album far better than anyone could have imagined. I have not enjoyed the release of an album this much since Blue Six released Noesis on the Naked Music label last summer. Overall this album is amazing aural journey from beginning to end. Honestly, I was hoping to see "Never Stop" reworked or remixed by the band in some way, maybe in the future the original version of "Never Stop", a very hip hop influenced track can also be found on OM:100. Lastly, an earlier version of the jazzy "Where Were You" was featured in OM Lounge 2. "Alright", which was previously made available on OM:100 and Es Vive Ibiza, makes an appearance in an updated smooth lounge "3PM Mix" that is reminiscent of Gabriel Rene's Aquanote album. Changes, another track found on Illusion, is found here with Gina Rene's smooth vocals and a different insturmental mix than the Illusion album version. The fact that earlier versions of some of the songs have been available on different compilations should not deter anyone from buying this album as "In the Light" is a completely new aural experience with the exception of "Wizard", the haunting and ethereal sounding untitled hidden track that was featured on the Illusion album. Love Cliche is a seductive smokey ballad that can only be described as heavenly, "In the Light" is a deeply chilled, blissed out track and "I Believe" is an uplifting affirmation in the self. Some of the standout tracks include "Love Cliche", "In the Light" and "I Believe". In the Light is an explosion of of smooth jazz infuzed trip-hop with a few loungy touches added for good measure, this album will literally set your soul on fire. The San Francisco quartet makes their return after nearly a decade of absence with a soulfull collection of tracks that will please fans new and old alike. Om Records is proud to present Soultice's 2011 album In the Light, featuring previously unreleased tracks from the Illusions era with 2 tracks recorded in 2011 featuring all the original members. Hitting the repeat button on the cd player will definately occur once you listen to this disc. If you are someone looking for new sounds or just in need of a great kick back cd this is a great buy.

Providing not only memerable sounds and lyrics, this album gives the listener a constant flow of tracks which keep very well in line with each other. A great chill out and late night cruise cd, Soulstice has an excellent balance of positive blues grooves and vocals.

Most of the time great new bands like Soulstice go unheard of for years and only if "popular radio stations" play them do they ever get out to the masses. It's hard these days to get tuned into music like this. Carefully walking a middle road between their diverse musical influences that range from Soul to Drum & Bass, lead singer Gina Rene kills us softly with her song on beautiful tracks like Fall Into You and Surrender. This album is perfect for those mellow Sunday evenings, and that lazy weekend wake-up when you wish you could just stay in bed all day, lying in your lover's embrace. If Portishead and Sade had children, they might sound something like Soulstice. You know the best thing? You can't hear the fight in their music. Few San Francisco have fought harder for success than this Om Records music collective. As most musicians know, the road to stardom is not paved with gold, it's paved with struggle: struggle with your label, with your bandmates, with trying to "make it".
